The Brazoria County Pride Educational Grant and Scholarship empowers LGBTQIA+ students in Brazoria County who are seeking to further their education though accredited academic testing or those earning their undergraduate, graduate, or doctoral degrees in the United States.
Awards: Three scholarships of $1,000 each for the Fall 2026 semester.

Application Due: Friday, May 1st, 2026, by 11:59 PM (local time)
Winners Announced: Saturday, June 6th, 2026
Important: All submissions must be timestamped no later than Friday May 1, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. to qualify.
Eligibility Requirements:
Applicants must:
Reside in Brazoria County, Texas.
Identify as a member of the LGBTQIA+ community.
Be enrolled for Fall 2026 in an accredited program (associate’s, bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral) or be pursuing accredited academic testing that advances toward a recognized credential/degree.
Scholarship recipients will be required to provide proof of residency and proof of Spring 2026 enrollment prior to disbursement.
Examples of acceptable proof (subject to verification):
Residency: TX ID/driver’s license, lease/mortgage statement, recent utility bill in applicant’s name, or an official letter from a school or government agency.
Enrollment: Official/unofficial enrollment verification, class schedule, or bursar/registrar documentation indicating Spring 2026 registration.

Identity & Journey: Describe your personal journey as an LGBTQIA+ individual. How has your identity shaped your experiences, challenges, and triumphs? How has it influenced your educational goals and aspirations?
Resilience & Impact: Reflect on a challenge you faced as an LGBTQIA+ individual or ally, and how you overcame it. How has this experience influenced your educational path and your desire to support the LGBTQIA+ community? How will this scholarship help you continue this journey?
Motivation: What inspired you to pursue your current field of study, and how does it connect to your passion for supporting the LGBTQ+ community?
Leadership & Advocacy: Describe a time when you stood up for yourself or others in the LGBTQ+ community. What did you learn from that experience?
Community Contribution: In what ways do you envision using your education to make a positive impact on the LGBTQIA+ community? Describe how this scholarship will enable you to pursue specific academic opportunities or professional development that will empower you to achieve these goals.
Personal Growth: What strengths or values have you developed as an LGBTQ+ person that will help you succeed in your education and advocacy journey?
Financial Barriers: Explain how financial support from this scholarship will alleviate specific barriers you face as an LGBTQIA+ student or ally. How will overcoming these barriers enhance your ability to succeed academically and contribute to the LGBTQIA+ community?
Mentorship & Visibility: In what ways do you plan to use your education to mentor or support other LGBTQIA+ individuals or allies? Describe how this scholarship will enable you to create or participate in programs or initiatives that promote LGBTQIA+ visibility and support within your academic institution, chosen field of study, or beyond.
Formatting Guidance:
Up to 500 words; clear, original writing is expected.
Detection of the use of Artificial Intelligence to write your essay will result in disqualification of eligibility.
Optional: brief context on academic goals, campus/community involvement, or leadership.
Applicants who have applied in previous years are welcome to apply again; however, all submissions must be new and original work. Responses may not reuse or repeat answers to previous scholarship prompts, and previously submitted essays may not be resubmitted for consideration.
Applications are reviewed by a volunteer committee convened by Brazoria County Pride that is independent of the organization’s board.
All identifying information is redacted before review, and applications are evaluated using a standardized rubric to ensure equity, confidentiality, and fairness.
Terms & Conditions
Document Window: Scholarship winners have 14 business days from receipt of award notification to submit required documents (proof of residency and enrollment). Failure to submit by the deadline may result in forfeiture of the award, which then may be offered to the runner-up to ensure timely disbursement to educational institutions.
Disbursement: Awards are paid directly to the accredited institution (or testing authority where applicable) for the Fall 2026 term.

Privacy: Information submitted will be used solely for eligibility verification, selection, and award administration.
