"The most effective form of resistance is visibility."
Why This Matters to Me
It is so important now to live our lives as openly and visibly as possible and work to support others on their journey. When we work together, we are serving a need that fills all of our souls
A Little Bit About Myself
I grew up in Lake Jackson graduating from Brazoswood High School in 1992 and returned to the area after about 10 years in the Texas Panhandle. After nearly 20 years working on tugboats, I currently work as the Director of Training and Development for a maritime company based out of Galveston. I have two children, 22 and 20, I love cooking and have started a deep dive into my gardening era.
My Journey
The monthly coffee social was the first I had heard of Brazoria County Pride and was ecstatic to see how the LGBTQ community in the area came together in Brazoria County. I have seen Brazoria County Pride evolve into a shining beacon of what a Pride celebration can looks like. To witness the joy and sense of warmth our events bring, it is easy to get involved. I am also pleasantly surprised at how the community has evolved over the past 30 years. I feel it is hugely important to support the movement that has already occurred. With the work and experience I have in other LGBTQ organizations, I am hoping we continue to deepen our roots and provide a safe place for everyone to live their most authentic lives.
Notable Achievements

My Hopes for the Future of Brazoria County Pride
Brazoria County Pride will continue to be premier example of what a community pride can do, continue to expand our events throughout the county, and are a proud, visible representation for LGBTQ+ residents.
